Groundbreaking Celebration

Following the Vision 202 conversation, the entire community was invited to celebrate the beginning of this new chapter in Lisle District 202’s history.  Almost 200 community members came out to the event!  The celebration began with the Boy Scouts leading the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance followed by the Girl Scouts sharing a meaningful poem about memories and new beginnings.  Then, because this building is for our young students, it was only right that they be the first to man the shovels.  Several kids had the opportunity to don a hard hat and take a first scoop with the ceremonial shovels!

After the ceremony, community members enjoyed a variety of “last time” activities including running the bases, rolling down the hill, touring the current Meadows school, and taking some Meadows dirt for a souvenir!  Participants were also treated to a sweet treat from the ice cream truck courtesy of the LEHSO, truck and ambulance tours from the Lisle-Woodridge, Fire District and DuPage County Sheriff’s K-9 unit.  A great time was had by all, a day of memories and celebrations to begin our move to the future!

Thank you to the amazing Lisle community for the continued support and engagement in creating a learning community that focuses the best interests of our students!

Lisle 202 would also like to send a special thank you to Elan Photography for photographing the day, LEHSO for the ice cream truck, Allegra Printing of Lisle for the wonderful banner of the new school, Jewel-Osco of Lisle for balloons, a private donor, the LWFD, Lisle Police Department and DuPage Sheriff’s department for joining in the celebration!
