Educational Alignment of District Facilities

Session 2 was Another Great Conversation!

The Session 2 scoop…

The “Vision 202: Chapter 2” conversation continued on Tuesday, February 16th evening at the second community engagement session.  Architects Mr. Mark Jolicoeur and Mr. Rick Young, of the architecture and design firm Perkins+Will, presented information to parents, community members, and District staff in attendance about the educational alignment and assessment of each of our school buildings: Tate Woods Elementary School, Schiesher Elementary School, Lisle Junior High School, and Lisle High School.  Participants heard about current trends for school facilities that support learning, the challenges for each of our current facilities in effectively meeting the needs of education today, as well as the possibilities for adjustments to current spaces and/or new spaces that optimize learning environments.

Following the presentation, small groups collaborated to complete two work tasks.  The first task asked the small groups to reflect and record items from the information presented that most resonated with the group.  For the second task, groups were asked to brainstorm suggestions and ideas to be considered in the development of the facilities options for CES #3.  Following the work time, a representative from each table had the opportunity to share the group’s ideas for the tasks.  Click here to view the Verbatim Responses Document.

Following a presentation by the architects on the impact of the positive features and challenges for each facility in terms of teaching and learning, small groups were asked to discuss and share their ideas on the following work activities…
