Session Four
District Facilities
April 25, 2015
No power? No problem! Even though April 25th was a rainy day and the power was out for many residents, the Lisle
community came out strong to join the Vision 202 conversation.
This time around we had the opportunity to hear from Mr. Mark Jolicoeur of Perkins+Will. This award winning
architecture and design firm was involved in the Lisle High School renovation and addition project in 2002. Mr. Jolicoeur
presented a brief overview of the current facilities including: Tate Woods Elementary School, Schiesher Elementary
School, Lisle Jr. High School, Lisle High School, and the Meadows Center. The audience then learned about the upcoming
Facilities Master Plan, slated to begin during the 2015-2016 school year. During this collaborative planning process,
community members will again be invited to participate in discussions to help in creating recommendations for the future
needs of the facilities.
Following the presentation, Vision 202 participants worked to address two tasks. The first task asked the small groups to
brainstorm issues that they feel need to be examined during next year’s Facilities Master Plan process, then prioritize their
list down to the top five items. Task two asked participants to help in the preparation for the upcoming planning by listing
information or data that would be helpful to have available at the onset of the discussions. The conversation led to many
interesting ideas and also showed trends in the community’s thinking.
The Community said…
Vision 202 participants
agreed that it is a good
time to examine the
facilities’ effectiveness in
supporting teaching and
learning, the grade
configuration of the
elementary grades , as
well as assess the security
features of the facilities.
Dr. Keith Filipiak,
Lisle CUSD 202
Superintendent,
commented, “This is one
of the most exciting times
in the history of our school
district. This conversation
with the community,
teachers, and staff will
help to create a plan for
the future that will impact
generations to come.”
